The summer fashion season is at our door with lots of citrus colors on the fashion scene. Lively melon colors and tangy oranges seem to dominate the ‘hot’ fashions. Pink is still around, and the beautiful berry colors are in high demand.  But what should I do if these trendy outfits don’t come in colors that blend with my best Gemtone undertones? 1. First, keep in mind that these are fashion ‘trends’ and these too will pass. Don’t spend your yearly budget on these fads.  These trendy colors are usually merchandised in clothing and accessories that are meant for little more than single season.  That means blouses and dresses sporting these hot colors this summer are going to be made of fabrics that typically will not transition well into the fall’s cooler weather.
   
   
2. Purchase a few fad items such as accessories that you won’t have to wear next to your face.  If you look best in blue based colors (Sapphires and Diamonds), make your fad purchase a pair of fun shoes, a beach tote, or a handbag that you can use for a little ‘hot flash’ with a great outfit that complements your unique coloring.
   
   
3. Consider multicolor prints for blouses, dresses and jackets.  You can easily pair up a print blouse with a solid jacket or sweater in your best Gemtone family so that the predominant color is one that complements you.
   
   
4. Splurge on a beautiful silk scarf in a fun print that complements your skin tone.  This handy little accessory can be used to pull back your hair, layer over a blouse that maybe isn’t your best color fit, or layer a wrap sarong style.  Use your imagination!
   
   
5. Keep your makeup light and natural. ‘Less is best’ is so true and summer is surely the season that exemplifies this.  By keeping your cosmetics light handed, your face will soften when surrounded by your best colors.
